Two shimmery polishes for spring; M.A.C.'s latest collaboration; Katharine McPhee's new modeling job; and more.
Shimmer for Your Fingers
We always love the look and quality of Lippmann polishes, created by famous manicurist-to-the-stars Deborah Lippmann. So it's no big shock that her two newest shades for spring are adorable, too. These pretty, shimmery pinks (Dream a Little Dream of Me, a bright cupcake-frosting pink that's named after a Louis Armstrong song, and Don't Call Me Baby, which is a watermelon-pink, named for the Madison Avenue song) look fabulous on fingers or toes, and they last and last and last! Find them at www.lippmanncollection.com.
M.A.C. and Heatherette Team Up
Fresh off its collaboration with French artist Fafi, M.A.C. has joined up with Richie Rich and Traver Rains of Heatherette to create a limited-edition line of makeup for the bold and playful. They've got two glittering looks: Good Girl (for day) and Bad Girl (for night), and the colors are bright, youthful and super flattering. They've got you covered on lips, face, eyes and nails, but our personal favorite item is the Heatherette Beauty Powder, which gives an overall sheer tint with a pearlescent finish and is packaged in a hot pink compact with holographic foil decal featuring the Heatherette logo. Check it all out for yourself at a M.A.C. counter near you, or online at www.maccosmetics.com.
Care for Your Hair, and the Planet, too
If you like to make sure your tresses are treated right, check out the line of hair products from Hamadi Beauty. Designed by hairstylist Jamal Hamadi, these products are shea moisturebased and use 100% organic essential oils and plant extracts, so they won't dry your locks or wreak havoc on the environment. (Oh, yeah, and none of it is tested on animals, either.) Lather up with the Ginger Soymilk Hair Wash Daily Shampoo, which is fine for all hair types, and use the Shea Leave In Daily Conditioner/Styling Cream to give you moisture without making your hair look limp. We're currently in love with the Healing Serum, which repairs hair that's been damaged by color or over-processing. There's also a Shea Hair Mask, Shea Pomade and more amazing-smelling stuff, too. Explore the whole line at www.hamadibeauty.com.
Guess Who?
So successful have past fragrances been that Guess is planning on launching a third women's scent, Guess by Marciano, reports WWD.com. The scent includes notes of grapefruit, cardamom, pink honeysuckle and dulce de leche enhanced with musk and will be available at more than 2,000 high-end department stores and Guess stores soon.
In other Guess news, the line will launch a capsule collection of eco-friendly denim and tops this month. Called Guess Green, all the items are made with organic cotton, and the use of chemicals is kept to a minimum. This comes on the heels of Guess' decision to stop using fur in its clothing, which shows that the company is working hard to be a good global citizen, while still creating fashionable clothing. Ten percent of the proceeds from Guess Green will be donated to the Environmental Media Association, a Los Angelesbased nonprofit that promotes awareness about the environment. The items will only be sold on the Guess Web site and 79 of the brand's top stores, so if you're interested, move quickly.
