Must-have primer; a lip gloss celebs are falling for; a classic goes all-natural; and something new from Marc Jacobs.
Primed and Ready
Makeup primer is one of those things that you don't think you need, then you use it, and you're like, "Hey, wait, I should have been putting this on all along! This is awesome stuff." Primer is a beauty product that you put on under your makeup (and under foundation, if you wear that), which lets your makeup stay put, evens out your skin tone and keeps your face from looking like an oil-slick. There are a bunch of great ones out there, but we're particularly enamored of That Gal, the new one from Benefit, purveyors of all things adorable, retro, and glam. That Gal is a silky pink primer that gives your skin a bright, healthy appearance, and it has yummy ingredients like raspberry, chamomile, sweet almond, and algae extracts. You can even wear primer alone, sans any makeup, for a pretty finish to your face. It's easy to put on; you just blend it in with your fingertips! Visit www.benefitcosmetics.com to check it out for yourself.
Are You a Balmshell?
Canadians already know all about this line, but it's new to us here in the States: an adorable lip gloss line called Balmshell, from Toronto twin sisters Jennifer and Fiona Lees. The 15 different, cleverly named shades, like That's So 80s (a sheer retro mauve) and Darling You Look Fabulous! (a sheer hot cherry red) are totally flattering. Cutest of all, each of the glosses comes in a fun tube that contains a floating art illustration. So once you've used up the color, you can use the tube as a keychain. Handy, eh? Visit www.balmshell.com for more on the growing line, which claims fans like Fergie, Denise Richards and Avril Lavigne.
A Classic Goes All-Natural
The most popular product made by the beauty company fave Tarte Cosmetics has always been its so-perfect cheek stain, a water-based push-up gel stick that gives you a pretty, natural blush. Now, Tarte has come up with an all-natural version. The new Natural Beauty stain has an antioxidant blend of blackberry, goji, acai, cranberry, pomegranate and currant, its scent is Cassis (blackcurrant) leaves, and it is preservative-free with no artificial coloring. So, if you're the kind of girl who would never dream of putting anything but the purest stuff on her face, check out this gorgeous blush, exclusive to www.sephora.com.
We Can't Wait to Sniff...
...the new scent Daisy Marc Jacobs, the latest fragrance addition to the Marc Jacobs line, which already has huge hits with scents like Marc Jacobs for women and Blush Marc Jacobs. According to Women's Wear Daily, Daisy Marc Jacobs has wild strawberry, ruby red grapefruit, gardenia, violet and jasmine petals, musk and vanilla, and the bottle has three daisies on the top. Bloomingdale's has a one-month exclusive of the scent now, and then it will start appearing at other stores after that.
