Gwen Stefani launches a L.A.M.B. scent; Rihanna lands a modeling job; how to escape to Tahiti without leaving your house; and a great product for a great cause.
Tropical Getaway in a Bottle
After the fun of the holiday season ends, we inevitably get a little winter blues. Other than Valentine's Day (which doesn't even merit one measly vacation day), it's a long, lonely stretch until warmer weather, spring break and anything resembling vacation time or some fun in the sun. So to keep your spirits lifted, pick up products from the new Ile De Tahiti line. Created with nurturing oils and scents (like coconut, Ylang Ylang, tuberose and vanilla) inspired by the tropical island, the line features yummy body lotions, washes, an eau de toilette and more, all in beautiful packing (azure blue, to resemble Tahitian waters ... swoon). Check out www.bathandbodyworks.com for the complete line.
Gwen in a Box
You knew it was only a matter of time before Gwen Stefani, tastemaker and lover of all things girlie-girl, rolled out her own scent. That's right, the first perfume from Gwen's super-successful L.A.M.B. line arrives in the fall, marketed by Coty (which also produces scents with Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Lopez). According to People.com, Gwen said she is creating the fragrance for herself. "It's like me shrunken into a box." We can't wait!
A Cool Product for a Great Cause
We always love stuff from beauty company Philosophy, but we're particularly enamored of their Joyful Heart 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath, which raises funds for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress Mariska Hargitay's Joyful Heart Foundation (JHF). The foundation helps survivors of sexual assault by providing retreats (like one to Kona, Hawaii, where survivors swam with dolphins, learned to surf and did art therapy). The limited-edition gel is $20 and 100 percent of the proceeds support JHF. For more information on this great organization, visit www.joyfulheartfoundation.org. Rihanna's Modeling Job
She's gearing up to drop her third album this summer, so she's pretty darn busy, but Rihanna was willing to tear herself away from the studio recently to do another kind of job: model. The singer was just hired to be the latest star to work for cosmetics giant Cover Girl (other singers who've done turns for CG are Queen Latifah, Faith Hill and Brandy). It's a good fit because Rihanna is actually the daughter of a makeup artist who always enjoyed watching her mom apply all sorts of beauty products. Now it will be her turn to be done up by the pros!
