Is My Discharge Normal?
I usually discharge white stuff one to two weeks before my period. Is this normal?
Kayla, 16
Yep! Totally normal. All women have vaginal discharge, and many notice that they have more about mid-way through their period cycle. Healthy, normal discharge is usually clear or whitish, (though it could look a little yellowish when dried on your underwear) just like what you're talking about. It's nothing to be concerned about at all. In fact, it means your body is doing what it needs to cleanse itself and stay healthy.
However, if you suddenly were to notice that your discharge was lumpy and thick (kind of like cottage cheese), or that you had a lot more than you usually do (and that is even factoring in the fluctuations that happen over the course of the month), you experience itching or burning, or your discharge takes on a foul and unusual odor, then you could have an irritation of some sort. In that case, talk to your doctor about it, and
let them check you out.
