My guy friend puts his arm around me a lot. Does this mean he likes me?
Gillian, 15, Boca Raton, FL
Yep. That is, assuming he doesn't fondle his other friends. He could be attracted to you, and too afraid that you'll laugh in his face to come put and say so. If he nonchalantly tosses his arm around you, he can easily pretend he was reaching for the bottle of Snapple on the other side of your shoulder. If you dig him, you're set: The next time he does the arm thing, let your hand brush his back lightly, lingering there a second longer that a just-a-friend might. But if you're not into his act, duck out of his clutches or grab his paw and do a Charlie's Angels mock-judo flip. If that's too subtle, you can say, "Dude, I'm so not into being touched." He'll hook himself onto someone else once the bruise to his ego heals.
