Fall TV Scoop
In the October issue of ym, we tell you all about the hot new shows that are starting this fall. (Click here to read about the cast of our favorite, The O.C..)
But we know you're just as buzzed to find out about those returning series. Here's the deal on some of the best.
Smallville Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The WB
There really couldn't have been more drama in the season finale a wedding, a plane crash, an explosion, etc. Three months later on the opener, Clark, who's going by his alter-ego name Kal, is missing and still under the influence of the red kryptonite. Everyone, including the scorned Lana, is searching for him. But don't fret because the Clark you love will return by the beginning of episode two. While Clark and Lana try to work out their relationship issues (and there are many), Chloe rethinks her decision to work for Lionel Luther. Lex and his fianc´e are alive and that plane crash wasn't what it seems. But in Smallville what ever is?

Gilmore Girls Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The WB
Ch-ch-ch-changes that's the theme for this season. Rory's off to Yale (thankfully in TV land, it's only 30 minutes from Stars Hollow). Lorelai's trying to deal with Rory's absence and not having a job since the inn burnt down. Suki's having a baby, and Luke and Nicole are back from their cruise with a new take on their relationship. While Lane's off to a Seventh Day Adventist college, her boyfriend, Dave (Adam Brody), is heading to school on the West Coast (don't cry you can catch him on The O.C.). Without her regular hot guys, Jess and Dean, hanging around, Rory enters the world of college dating and it's scary.

Everwood Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on The WB
Like the suspenseful season finale wasn't enough to get you to tune in this year. We still got some scoop. Obviously the big question is if Colin's alive, but no one would answer it for us (though we've heard lots of rumors that he is). There's going to be a big emphasis on college since Ephram and Bright are juniors now. Bright gets kicked off the varsity football team for failing summer school, which means his ticket into college is gone unless he can pull up his grades. But there's good news for Bright, too he gets a girl midseason. Ephram's also super busy with school and piano and no longer has time to help out with Delia. So, Dr. Brown hires a 20-year-old babysitter named Madison. She and Ephram don't get along, which in The WB world means they'll be dating by the end of the season.

7th Heaven Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on The WB
What would the Camden house be without drama? The two-part season opener will reveal who died on the finale and who's pregnant. While Lucy and Kevin slowly settle into married life, Roxanne and Chandler have their own problems. Ruthie is now a teenager with a boyfriend (it's Peter, the kid from down the street). A new teenage guy, one of the Camden's neighbors, also comes on the scene. Are we sensing a love triangle? Matt and Mary will make a few guest appearances, but after the third episode say good-bye to Simon. (He's off to college in real life.) However, Cecilia will stick around. Phew.

That '70s Show Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox
High school is finally done for everyone (except Jackie) and life is harder than ever. Since Red is still recuperating from his heart attack, Eric decides to put off school and work to help out the family, which doesn't sit well with college-bound Donna. Kelso's going to the police academy, and Hyde's working at a hotel restaurant, where Eric and Kelso also land jobs. A mysterious woman (American Pie's Shannon Elizabeth) resurfaces from Kelso's past. Fez is trying to adjust being married to Eric's sister, Laurie, and Jackie's struggling with being the only one still in high school. But her biggest issue is choosing between Hyde and Kelso. She picks one of them in the first episode so don't miss it.

Alias Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC
Last season's finale left so many unanswered questions that it will take some time to clear them up. Syd's trying to figure out why she was missing for two years and what happened during that time. But those hidden memories contain important info that everyone in the intelligence world is after. With so much time passing, lots of things are different. In the first episode, Jack and Irina don't appear to be enemies, and Weiss is out in the field with Syd because Dixon got promoted. Vaughn's quit the CIA and while no one from Alias would confirm his marital status, there was a casting call for the role of his wife. Gasp!

Charmed Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on the WB
Leo's been banished to Valhalla by the mysterious white lighter Chris. Before Leo left, he put a whammy on Piper so that their breakup wouldn't be as devastating. But with Leo unable to take off the blam, it starts working to make Piper abnormally happy and even affects her powers. Phoebe and Paige realize something's seriously wrong and beg Chris to go find Leo. But Chris has to do that without letting the girls know he was the one who got rid of Leo in the first place. Phoebe gets a new power, and Paige is going to explore her own separate identity in the sisterhood. Apparently having magical powers doesn't make life easy. Go figure.

Friends Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC
It's the final season, but then again they said that last year, too. This time they're serious, though. Joey's getting his own spin-off show, which has him living in Los Angeles sans any of the friends. So, even though no one will utter a word about the Ross-Rachel-Joey situation, things don't look good for Joey and Rachel. As for the others, Paul Rudd is back as Phoebe's irresistible boyfriend, and Monica and Chandler try to start their family. There's a lot to accomplish for the final farewell!

What I Like About You Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on The WB
As with any second-year comedy trying to work out the quirks, some things are going to be different this season. The girls move into a new apartment and Val quits her job to start her own PR company. Gary's back as Holly's best friend, but she also gets a new girlfriend, who's more mature and cynical than Holly. As always, there's boy drama. Though Jeff (Simon Rex) is totally out of the picture, Val gets a new love interest. Holly has to deal with the news that her boyfriend Henry isn't a virgin when she's still in the V-club. But their relationship gets more complicated when Holly meets Vince, an older bike messenger who's nothing like Henry. Decisions, decisions.
