The Top Ten School-Themed Movies of All Time
From Sixteen Candles to Bring It On, we went all Roger Ebert on you and sat through hours and hours of teen- and college-themed movies. After scrutinizing the cinematic merits of Porky's versus Old School, we narrowed it down to the absolute best of the bunch. Read on, then post your favorites on our message boards.

Sixteen Candles (1984)
Why We Love It: Two words: Brat Pack. There are many things to love (and hate) about the '80s, but topping our list of loves are the teen flicks John Hughes rolled out that decade.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: When Samantha, played by Brat-Pack queen Molly Ringwald, agrees to give her underwear to über-dork Ted, portrayed by a prepubescent Anthony Michael-Hall. Good thing she wasn't wearing granny panties!
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Jake Ryan, aka Michael Schoeffling (that's a mouthful!), makes us all wish our 16th birthday present could have been as hot.

Bring It On (2000)
Why We Love It: Cheerleading finally gets the respect it deserves in this film. We love watching Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union perform their routines at competition. We've even practiced a few of their moves in front of the mirror.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Sparky Polastri teaching the Toros their routine for the upcoming competition never fails to get a laugh out of us. Jazz fingers!
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Jesse Bradford's character, Cliff, will make you think twice about that quirky music-loving guy in your math class.

Fame (1980)
Why We Love It: The Fame kids spawned a zillion mediocre high school versions of this musical, but we won't hold it against them. Between the catchy soundtrack and fun choreography, this story of New York teens trying to become famous makes us all wish we could break into song and dance in the middle of class.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Coco and Leroy leading their friends in a lunchroom jam session, complete with tabletop dancing.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: While his frizzy cornrows were questionable, we loved Leroy's (Gene Anthony Ray) skills on the dance floor.

Mean Girls (2004)
Why We Love It: Let's be real, every girl has a little bit of the insecure and catty Plastics inside her. Fortunately for us, this clever film holds up a mirror to our ugly side without being preachy.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Cady's (Lindsay Lohan) phone call from hell in which she gets caught making snide comments about other members of the Plastics. It makes us never want to use three-way calling again.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: If Jonathan Bennett's hot character, Aaron, weren't so bad at math we'd snatch him up as our tutor any day.

Can't Hardy Wait (1998)
Why We Love It: There are no words to describe the feeling that pulses through your body right after you've finished your last day of school, but this underrated flick gets pretty darn close. Plus, who doesn't love a movie that has so-called nerds getting the last laugh?
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Watching what happens after ghetto guy Seth Green and bitter intellectual Lauren Ambrose get locked in a room together. Sometimes opposites really do attract.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Whether he's playing a hyperactive record store clerk in Empire Records or a romance-driven graduate, Ethan Embry is always easy on the eyes.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Why We Love It: Playing hooky is something we've always wanted to do, but never had the guts to pull off. This film allows us to experience it vicariously through Ferris. If only we could go to a baseball game and dance the twist every day.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Yes, we've all had horribly boring teachers, but has anyone ever been pushed to the point of drooling during class? Anyone? Anyone?
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Young Matthew Broderick is way cute. We always get a little jealous of Sarah Jessica Parker whenever we see this movie.

Old School (2003)
Why We Love It: Will Ferrell's over-the-top stunts, Vince Vaughn's dry wit, and Luke Wilson's wry humor balance each other to make the perfect comedy. The gut-wrenching laughs are nonstop.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: A buck-naked Frank tries to recapture the coolness of his youth, but misses when he interrupts Snoop Dogg's performance with an invitation to go streaking.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Well, the movie is about three middle-aged, beer-bellied men. So it isn't exactly chock-full of sex symbols. But since we have to pick, Luke Wilson gets the honors.

Clueless (1995)
Why We Love It: The affable yet ditzy Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and her home girls, Dionne (Stacey Dash) and Tai (Brittany Murphy), transformed the way teens talked for years. As if!
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Only a Los Angeles high school gym class would have half its students recovering from nose jobs the way Cher's did.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Paul Rudd couldn't have been any cuter as Cher's intellectual stud.

Never Been Kissed (1999)
Why We Love It: 1) Drew Barrymore 2) Drew Barrymore, and 3) Drew Barrymore. Even as a high school nerd, the actress is incredibly smart and cool.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Josie Geller's first day of school, which involves spilling chocolate milk on an all-white outfit and falling flat on her face, is the epitome of embarrassment.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: On the one hand there's the mature and intelligent Sam Coulson, played by Michael Vartan. On the other hand there's class clown Robert Geller, played by David Arquette. We'll call it a draw and enjoy both!

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
Why We Love It: This movie is a pretty accurate picture of what life was like in a California high school in the '80s. Cameron Crowe based the characters on teens he met while posing as a student in a San Diego public school.
Classic Back-to-School Moment: Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh) shows a different side of high school life when she decides to have an abortion.
Back-to-School Eye Candy: Sean Penn's perpetually stoned character, Jeff Spicoli, single-handedly sparked America's obsession with the surfer dude and our love for those checkered Vans.

Did we miss any? What's on your list of The Top Ten School-Themed Movies of All Time?
