Three Things You Didn't Know About Kate Hudson
You thought you knew everything about our cover girl. You were wrong.

1) She likes to take things slow.
While other young actresses cram movie upon movie into their work schedule, Kate prefers to build her career slowly but surely. "Today for some reason people think they have to do everything really fast. I'm a real believer in not rushing things and not working all the time. I was very happy to take a year off to be pregnant. And I think it's really important 'cuz I'm so young, and all the really complicated roles come when you're a little older. If I could do two movies a year, I would take a year off easily. And people look at me and they're like, 'Don't you feel like you're gonna slip away?' And I'm like, 'No not at all.' "

2) Her nickname on the set of Raising Helen was Goldie.
But she wasn't trying to channel her mom or anything. "Yeah, it was a joke. I don't think [the director] really thought I was Goldie. I think that he's getting up there in age, so he forgets everybody's names. So he would call the women Harriet and the men Mel. That's what he usually called everybody. And I lucked out with Goldie."

3) She has a weakness for 1980s heavy metal.
"I like to put on monster ballads from the '80s. And I'm like, you know singing "Winds Have Changed." Those are guilty pleasures for me. It just brings me back. I like Def Leppard and stuff like that."
