Aww Yeah! Pawel Szajda
Name: Pawel Szajda
Where You've Seen Him: Timing a speed skater in an AT&T commercial during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Luckily, there's a bit more of Pawel in the new movie Under the Tuscan Sun. He plays a Polish immigrant worker in love with a rich Italian girl whose dad doesn't approve of their relationship.
Why We Picked Him: His eyes are so piercingly blue that it's hard to concentrate on anything else. After a few minutes of interviewing (okay, more like a half hour), we managed to move beyond the eyes and realize Pawel's smart, too. The 21-year-old is double-majoring in economics and English at New York City's Fordham University.
We Know You're Wondering About... His name. It's pronounced PAV-el (it's Polish for "Paul") SHY-da. His parents are from Poland but moved to Farmington, CT, before Pawel was born.
Mom and Dad Know Best: "My parents forced me, my three brothers, and my sister to take Polish lessons every Saturday morning," says Pawel. "I was bitter about it, but now I count my blessings since speaking Polish got me the commercial and this movie role."
Haven't We Heard This Before? "When I was a freshman in high school, I was 5'2'' and 72 pounds, so I didn't really attract any attention from girls." He's single now, too, but we're guessing not for long.
