Five Things You Should Know About Alison Pill
The Toronto native may be Lindsay Lohan's sidekick in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, but she's poised to have a bright career as a leading lady. Here are a few things you should know about her.

1) She's a nerd and not ashamed of it.
"In the movie, my character, Ella, was never cool. I went through Ella's stage in life. I used to wear really tight buns and riding jodhpurs to school and everyone would make fun of me. I was the biggest nerd, with a huge retainer, and a Winnie the Pooh lunch bag. I've only been able to be cool a few months at a time. It's so tiring to be cool and try to impress people. So I just gave up on that. Now, I'm at peace with the fact that I'm a nerd who may once in a while get to do cool things."

2) Coldplay rocks her world.
"I've camped out to buy Coldplay tickets before. My friend and I bought scalper tickets last year right after their album came out because I was in Vancouver shooting while the tickets were on sale. We ended up spending $120. Then there was the time I waited on the Internet for another Coldplay concert in Montreal. We got fifth row for that one. I'm not obsessed at all. I just fly to Montreal to see them."

3) She and Lindsay really are friends off-camera.
"We ended up finding out a lot about each other. We spent the entire summer together, almost every day for 10 hours a day. It was inevitable that we'd become friends."

4) She likes chocolate cake, only not at three in the morning.
"On movie sets you really have to watch out for catering. We do a lot of night shooting, sometimes at 3 o'clock, and the thing I'll want most is a big piece of chocolate cake. The crazy thing is that catering will actually have it. I was like 'Uh-oh, bad news.' "

5) She can be a little dramatic at times. But that's why she's an actor.
"I went to New York once for this audition and everyone was saying, 'Oh, I don't think she got it.' The director was thinking of going with a more androgynous look. So, I said, 'I can do androgynous! I'm a boy!' So, I took pictures of myself like a boy and flew to New York a second time to audition. At this point I was having thoughts like You'll never work again, you'll fail. A few days later I was crying in the Chicago airport, and I got this message from my manager saying, "Call me as soon as you land!" When they told me I had gotten the part, I started crying — even harder. These airport people came up to me and said, 'Are you okay?' I was sitting in the middle of this big hallway in the Chicago O'Hare airport, sobbing crying and saying 'I'm so happy! I'm so happy!' These women were staring at me like This girl is having a nervous breakdown, which I was. It was a little dramatic."
