What's Hot This Week February 5, 2008
TV:
50th Annual Grammy Awards
Sunday night the stars come out to celebrate the best music of the year. Performers include Beyoncé, Foo Fighters, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Feist and tons of others. Tune in to CBS to watch it all.
Music:
Sheryl Crow Detours
Singer Sheryl Crow releases a new, very personal (and very excellent) album this week, which explores some of what she's been through these past few years (including a broken engagement to Lance Armstrong, a battle with breast cancer, and in much, much happier news, the adoption of her son). She also announced that she'll be launching her own denim line in June. We are always amazed that she's got so much passion and energy, and thankful, too. Go, Sheryl, go!
Book:
Things I've Learned from Women Who've Dumped Me edited by Ben Karlin
Former Daily Show and Colbert Report producer Ben Karlin had an idea: get some seriously funny guys to reveal what they've learned from the (former) women in their lives. Stephen Colbert, Will Forte, Andy Richter and others share their embarrassing, painful, and sometimes rather touching insights.
DVD:
Across the Universe
Director Julie Taymor's creates a magical and wholly enchanting world filled with singing, dancing, love, and Beatles music. If you didn't catch this sleeper hit in the theaters, bump this DVD up on your Netflix queue and enjoy!
Movie:
Fool's Gold Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson team up in this romantic comedy (out in time for Valentine's Day, of course) and adventure story. They play an estranged married couple who are on the outs because of Matthew's thirst for adventure... and buried treasure. Will they team up again for one last hunt for gold? Will sparks fly? Come on, what do you think?
