What's Hot This Week February 26, 2008
Movie:
The Other Boleyn Girl Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson star in this moody, elegant period drama about two sisters, both caught up in the intrigue (and romantic life) of Henry VIII. Though understated, there's plenty of passion bubbling beneath the surface of this smart flick.
Music:
Missy Higgins On A Clear Night
This singer is already a sensation is Australia, now her album lands here in the states, promising to win her a whole new continent's worth of fans. You probably already know this talented artist, though; her song Where I Stood has been featured on Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill and Lipstick Jungle. No wonder her shows are already sold out in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, and Baltimore.
Worth Another Listen
Shelby Lynne Just A Little Lovin'
We didn't get around to listening to crooner Shelby Lynne's new album, Just a Little Lovin', until it had been out a few weeks, but whoa, are we glad we finally did! We love her amazing take on classic tunes from the Dusty Springfield songbook. Go to http://shelbylynne.com to find out more about this uniquely talented artist and her latest disc.
Music:
Ludo You're Awful, I Love You
We'd probably want to pick up this album for the title alone, but that's actually not the only reason Ludo's major label debut is worth owning. The cool, St. Louis indie band promises to "entertain people without making them dumber." We can get behind that. Visit www.LudoRock.com for more.
Audition Update:
Become a Back-up Dancer Ciara needs help. She's searching for fabulous back-up dancers to join her. If you live in Atlanta, Miami, New York or Los Angeles, show up and see if you've got the moves. Check out www.youtube.com/ciaratv to hear more.
DVD:
The Darjeeling Limited
Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman play brothers who don't get along, but have to try, while traveling together through India. Though billed as a comedy, this film has quite a mournful edge. (From the same director who did Rushmore, FYI.)
