What you'll need:
•  One old pair of jeans that sit low on your waist
•  scissors
•  bleach
•  and a fun appliqué.
High-waisted, flared jeans (think '70s-style) is a huge trend, with celebs like Hilary Duff, Keira Knightley and Rachel Bilson seen wearing the look. Do you think they look cute?
Yes, I love them. They're really flattering and don't show half your butt when you bend over, either.
No, I like a more traditional leg, like boot cut or straight leg jeans.
What Back-to-School Fashion Trend Is Best for You?
With the new school year right around the corner, you're probably getting your clothing wish list all organized. Take our quiz to find out which trend is right for you.

Step 1:
Cut your jeans straight across the thighs from one side to the other, making sure to line up the cut with the bottom of the crotch.

Step 2:
Toss your skirt in a bathtub or lay it outside on the sidewalk. Be sure to wear rubber gloves and put on clothes you won't mind getting bleach on. Standing above the skirt, (very) carefully pour the desired amount of bleach. Try not to let it splash.

Step 3:
Let the bleach soak in for about two minutes and then rinse the skirt in cold water. Wash separately.

Step 4:
Adorn the pockets, hem, belt loops, or the entire skirt with whatever you have lying around the house. I found these sequin appliqués on a vintage sweater I never wear.
