An Ode to Summer How does FredFlare.com always manage to find the most perfect things to stock? From fashionable and affordable clothing to adorable accessories, this site never fails to be at the top of our favorites list. Of course, we're not surprised that they'd discover something this cute and quirky: a Snoopy snow-cone machine (shown) that makes us dance a happy dance like all those characters in Peanuts do. It comes with an ice shaver (careful, though, it's sharp!), syrup bottle, unsweetened drink mix, a scoop and instructions, although hey, this ain't rocket science. All you really do is scrape, add yummy flavoring, and prepare for a delicious treat. To pick one up for your next party, visit www.fredflare.com and see what other excellent items they carry that will add to your summer fun! |

Once Bitten, Twice Bitten We adore Sarah Jessica Parker. While she's a style icon who can buy anything she wants, she realizes that not everyone has her bank account. So when Steve & Barry's, a hip clothing chain, asked her if she wanted to design her own line, she decided to do it, but only if everything could be super-duper affordable. Bitten, Sarah's line of apparel, footwear and accessories is out this month, and it manages to be high quality at low prices (top price is $19.98!). Because she grew up in a family with eight kids who struggled to make ends meet, Sarah wants women of all incomes to be able to purchase her goodies. "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right" is one of her mottoes. The actress visited Oprah recently to show the line and to talk more about it. On the show she said that one goal is to make sure her pieces don't get dated. "You're not going to feel embarrassed you know, 'Oh my God, how did I end up in that dress?' " With Sarah's eye for fashion, we doubt that will ever happen. Check out more and find a store near you by visiting www.bittensjp.com. |

Speaking of Steve & Barry's ... Sarah Jessica Parker's Bitten launches this month, but that doesn't mean Steve & Barry's is going to be exclusive to the starlet. They've already lined up Amanda Bynes to create her own line of apparel and accessories, which will show up in the Steve & Barry's stores in August. The line will be as affordable as Sarah's, with nothing over the $20 mark. Bynes is calling her line Dear, because she'll be making clothing that will be "dear to the wearer for years to come." According to WWD.com, Dear will launch with 120 pieces of clothing, 28 accessories, and 70 pieces of jewelry. Whew! |

WNBA Makeover The Women's National Basketball Association kicked off its second decade last month, with some big changes on the court. No, we're not talking about team rosters, we're talking fashion. Adidas created new outfits for the women who dribble and dunk jerseys with racer-back cuts and a more feminine, thinner strap. The players were actually consulted by the designers, and they also requested tops that could be tucked in. You'll see some interesting inspiration for the styles, too, including Native American tribes and superheroes, says WWD.com, which makes sense, since the WNBA players are "literally superheroes" to kids, says Jenny Lons Cohane, senior product manager for women's apparel at Adidas. All Right in White Not that you really need reminding, but when the mercury goes up, you'll want to bust out your lightest-colored clothing. At the recent Cannes Film Festival, stars like Maria Menounos, Chlöe Sevigny, Diane Kruger and others wore crisp white pieces that showed off their glowing summer skin and made them look oh-so-cool (in more ways than one). Even Brad Pitt got in on the act, wearing an off-white suit while hanging out with some of his Ocean's 13 co-stars. Wear a white tee, a pretty eyelet blouse or cute white jeans, for a fresh way to look casual. Or pick up a simple white sundress, which you can dress up or down. Whatever you do, though, keep your whites pristine: Have a Clorox Bleach Pen Gel next to your hamper so you can rub out stains before you put your clothing in the washing machine. |
